Ricky Young's album Spinning My Wheels is set to be released July 24, 2012
Born in Fairbanks, Alaska, raised in Columbia, SC, it's been a long and winding road to Nashville for Ricky Young. After graduating from The University of South Carolina, Ricky spent 5 years working in Minor League Baseball. He packed his guitar and suitcase and started writing... everyday. During the seasons and off seasons Ricky started playing singer-songwriter open mic's anywhere he could find. It didn't take long before he was on stage preforming to audiences all over the southeast. Ricky is passionate about so many aspects of music that it oozes right out of him while on stage. If you were to ask him what is he most passionate about, you wouldn't get a straight answer. Number one would be songwriting, performing, and connecting with the listener. Ricky got a little break while preforming at a Cancer Benefit in Raleigh, NC in 2011. There he met Grammy award winning producer Nick Autry who was baffled by Ricky's talent and passion. They worked together the next 6 months finding the right songs for his first Nashville record. The record was recorded at one of Nashville's finest studios, Sound Stage (Miranda Lambert, Kenny Chesney, George Strait, Lionel Richie, to name a few alums). Ricky teamed up with long time friend and Carolina native Lee Brice. Together they paired up on a emotional country rock tune "I Carry It With Me". Ricky also cut several of Lee's songs on his new record. Using some legendary Nashville players, Nick Autry and Ricky have created something truly unique and special. Ricky Young's record is set to be released mid to late July 2012.
